Rollingwood Water Wise Garden
The City of Rollingwood is proactively reducing water usage via the landscaping surrounding City Hall. Originally conceived by members of our Park Commission, City Council approved a renowned locally based design firm, Plant Driven Designs, to execute a comprehensive design plan for the project. The three main goals of the project were to beautify the area in front of City Hall, reduce water usage in the landscape, and educate visitors about the potential for implementing water reduction techniques in their home landscapes.
Visitors to the garden can learn about plants that respond well to the conditions present in our own neighborhood, such as soil, amount of sunlight, and deer resistance, to name a few. A rainwater collection cistern is utilized for the maintenance of the landscape and to illustrate how residents can collect and use rainwater.
The Rollingwood Women’s Club generously kicked off our fundraising efforts by covering the cost of the rainwater collection cisterns.
