Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission advises the City Council on planning-related matters, conduct hearings, make recommendations, and perform such other duties required by law or as may be assigned to the commission from time to time by the City Council.
Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the Month at the City’s Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m. Meetings of the commission can be held at the call of the chairperson or upon petition of a majority of the members of the commission.
Membership
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven members who are residents of the City, appointed by the City Council to staggered terms. Members of the City Council or Board of Adjustment are not eligible for appointment to the Commission. Each member of the Commission serves a two-year term, commencing on January 1 and ending December 31 of the following year, except that, upon expiration of their terms, members of the commission shall continue to serve until their successors are appointed and qualified.

Selection Process
Nominations to boards and commissions, unless otherwise provided by the Charter or the Code of Ordinances, shall be made by the Council members. The City Council shall confirm nominations for appointment to the board or commission in order for an appointment to be effective.
