Right-Of-Way Tree Trimming Beginning on August 12, 2024
Rollingwood Residents,
The City will begin tree trimming at addresses that have trees or branches extending into the city's street right-of-way on August 12, 2024, for the interest of public safety, accessibility, and to maintain the health of our cherished oak trees. Properties with trees or branches in the city's street right-of-way will receive a yellow door hanger detailing this information. If you receieved a door hanger, your property may be subject to tree trimming.
Tree trimming will only be performed to the portions of the trees that encroach on the City-owned right-of-way to the required height of 14 to 16 feet above the ground. Please note that because we will only be trimming on one side, the appearance may be "lopsided," which may not meet aesthetic standards.
Why This Is Important:
- Public Safety: Untrimmed branches force pedestrians and bicyclists to navigate around them, often onto busy streets, which poses a risk to their safety.
- Accessibility: Properly trimmed trees ensure clear and safe passage for all road users.
- Oak Tree Health: Branches not pruned to the required height of 14 to 16 feet are vulnerable to damage from delivery trucks and large vehicles. Such damage can lead to oak wilt, a disease that threatens the health of our valuable oak trees.
If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at (512) 327-1838.
Thank you,
City of Rollingwood
